Seventh- So Much to Be Thankful For

Sun Dec 7, 2008, 3:13 AM
  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Three Legged Dog by The Cruel Sea
  • Reading: Any Apophysis tutorial i can find.
  • Watching: Summer Storms
  • Playing: Apophysis
  • Drinking: Coffee
*It's been so long since my last journal, August 5th, to be precise, that I had to find a tutorial on how to update it! The summer storms have begun washing us out and interrupting power supply every night around feeding time at the 'zoo'. One particularly bad storm (the worst since the '74 floods so I'm told) took the power out just before I'd started cooking, so my children had to make do with what we found that didnt need baking, frying, steaming, toasting or grilling. They found it very difficult to imagine anything outside their electric world. We lit candles and had a lovely evening reading from the Chronicles of Narnia epic adventure. I realised later that we needed to spend more evenings like that, and that I drank far too much coffee. When the sixth hour dragged by without power restored I was so desperate that I resorted to making a cuppa from the hot water tap. I'm so thankful for my beautiful children, but as a single working Mum I'm also very thankful for HOT coffee! After that long night I appreciate every cup.
*I'm very thankful to *Spamkiller for suggesting [link] for a DD on 2008-09-10. `Sophquest was so kind to accept and I received my second DD! I was also pleased to see in some comments some varied/constuctive criticism about Cathedral. I usually ask for it when submitting, but rarely get any. Thankyou to all who took the time to comment or :+fav:,in any form.
*I've taken a couple of weeks off from making fractals. I felt like I was getting left behind with so many beautiful styles that I wasnt able to master. Every time I logged into dA Fractal Gallery or my Devwatch, I was blown away at the quality of work and just how good some people had become in such a short time (yes I'm talking about you =n8iveattitude1:hug:.)I became a little discouraged at my inability to produce anything close to what some deviants were posting. I will admit to spending many days without sleep just trying to catch up:blush:. With the time off I have come to realise that I cannot spend that sort of time on the computer and still be a happy soul for the kids and also function professionally at work. My days begin at 3.30 am as I travel 4 hours a day to work and back, being mum and dad to active children and housekeeping once they go to bed was only leaving a little time to learn Apophysis. It may now take me a little longer to grasp the techniques of new styles and post anything in the gallery but I wont be as worn out as I was becoming.
*On the other hand I'm thankful for discovering Apophysis and this community as I've found an interest to stimulate myself. Single parenting can become all-consuming and you often forget about yourself.(I hadnt read anything except parenting magazines in 8 years-I shit you not!) *Thankyou to :iconn8iveattitude1: and all the lovely folks at ~Aposhack for their help when I've dropped in.
* Thankyou to the following for their technical advice :iconideviant:, :iconcmptrwhz:, :iconuncle-keeps:, :iconrozrr:, :iconeralex61:, :iconzueuk:, :icondjeaton3162:, :iconyarnor:, and again :iconn8iveattitude1: for coming to my rescue with invaluable advice.
*I'm thankful to my watchers, some fellow fractalists and fellow artists in various genres. Your kind comments and encouragement has given me hope to keep trying especially when my fractals were lacking....quite a bit! I had to delete quite a bit from my Message Center/Devwatch and to those artists I send my apologies. I will be going through my :+devwatch: alphabetically to catch up on your wonderful work that I've missed :( while taking a break.
*I would be thankful to anyone for tips and tutorials for Flash animation for beginners and similar for learning to use vectors in Illustrator. Resource links here at dA appreciated, but if external they must be safe sites-no nasties please.
*I'm just thankful for every day.

I support :iconapophysis: and :iconimagersfractaldds:.

It's my pleasure. Your exciting work with Ultra Fractal is the reason I purchased UF5 just recently. It just blows me away to see the images that you have achieved and look forward seeing more of your work!
